City Sightseeing Tour - A Taste of Lisbon

Getting acquainted with the most exotic capital of Europe: The tour starts with panoramic visit of the historical quarter of Belem, where you will see some of the Ex Libris of the town, such as the Monument to the Portuguese Discoveries - the Mosteiro Dos Jeronimos, a jewel of manueline architecture as well as the Torre of Belem. The coach continues along the Tagus river and enters into downtown Lisbon, the Alfama, which is the oldest area in town where still nowadays a strong Arabic influence can be realised. You climb up to the Castle Hill following the narrow lanes and picturesque corners of the Alfama and finally have the “Beauty of the Tagus” stretching out to your feet, once you reach the terrace of St. George Castle.

Lisbon of the Discoveries

A short drive by coach takes you to the historical area of Belem, where each stone and monument reminds you of the glory of Portuguese discoveries that are dated back in the 15th century. A first stop is made at the Jeronimos Monastery, declared by UNESCO as World Heritage, where you visit the church and its cloisters built in the unique Portuguese manueline style. After a cultural introduction to Portugal, a stop at the famous Fabrica Dos Pasteis De Belem will follow: a popular coffee shop were the little famous custard cakes are still produced and served freshly out of the oven. A bica – a small Portuguese coffee will be offered together with the delicious cakes. Afterwards transfer back to the congress venue.

The Magic of Sintra and the End of the Continent

This tour offers the opportunity to leave Lisbon behind and to discover the beauty and magical atmosphere of Sintra, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s stunning setting on the north slopes of the granite Serra, among wooden ravines and fresh water springs made it a favour summer residence area for the Kings of Portugal. In Sintra you visit the famous Villa Palace with an incredible collection of historical Portuguese tiles. Later you have time to explore the town of Sintra on your own for a shopping tour. You return to Lisbon driving along the impressive coastal road and passing by the towns of Cascais and Estoril.
